Heading out to one of my favourite spots for Bass with my good friend Angus, rods in hand and excitement in the air. The conditions were perfect—low light, calm water, and big tides. It was the kind of evening where you just knew the Bass would be feeding and it was just a matter of finding the right spot.
On the way to our preferred spot, we decided to make a quick stop at a small mark close to shore. We started off with a mixture of soft plastic fishing lures and topwater lures, but the fishing was slow. Despite knowing there were fish around, they just weren't biting. That’s when Angus decided to switch things up and try the Renaissance eel. After a few casts with a slow retrieve, he finally hooked into a nice bass. It put up a great fight, and the realistic appearance of the Real D-eel colour variation made all the difference. Safe to say, it was a smart choice!

Now that the first fish had been landed and the Renaissance eel saved the blank we headed over to our intended spot. With Angus having success on the Renaissance eel I quickly switched lure myself to the Bounty variation. I have always found that white fishing lures work well in this spot and that this would be the best lure for Bass fishing that I had in my tackle box. Sticking with a slow retrieve it wasn’t long until I was hooked up!! This hungry Bass smashed my fishing lure and it was a good sign that they were starting to come on the feed.

With the light now being low in the sky and with it being an hour before low water (my favourite tide to fish) the Bass were officially feeding. Cast after cast, Angus and I were hooking up, with the Renaissance eel doing most of the hard work.
With the bait being chased in the water the surface was now alive with activity, I couldn't resist switching to a topwater lure. I opted for the Cracker from the Reaper Range, and it didn't disappoint. I was managing to entice a Bass to come up and Strike the lure nearly every cast which is always great fun when walking the dog. After several smaller fish, I finally managed to get this nicer sized Bass that you can see below.

With the sun setting and it now being slack water me and Angus decided to call it a day and steam back to shore. Having put a good bend in the rod over the course of the evening we were buzzing with excitement and now look forward to next chance we get to go out fishing.
